AEA®

Air entraining admixture

Description

AEA® is a ready to use liquid air-entraining admixture which produces a stable air void system in the mortar phase of concrete mixes. The action of AEA® is to generate a controlled quantity of air in discrete and uniformly dispersed microscopic bubbles which improves concrete workability and reduces bleed of the concrete mix after placement.

AEA® contains no chloride as an intentional component and has no TEA. AEA® is manufactured under rigid control which provides uniform and predictable performance when used in concrete. AEA® complies with AS 1478.1-2000, Type AEA.

Application areas

  • Premix, precast and low slump concrete
  • Slag, lightweight or manufactured aggregates that produces harsh concrete
  • Natural sands, deficient in fines

Benefits

  • Improves workability and placeability with reduction in water content
  • Lowers the bleed potential of concrete specially in mixes deficient in fines
  • Early finishing and setting times in cold climates
  • Freeze-thaw cycling in cold climate areas
  • Assists in pumping and concrete workability
